Rose & Rosie Appreciation Post!
It’s been a little while since I posted an appreciation post, so what better way to get back to it than with youtubes favorite couple?
If you’ve watched Rose & Rosie videos, you probably spend most of the video smiling and thinking ‘awww!’, it’s understandable, they are adorable. You can see how much they love each other and they share it with the world. In a world so full of homophobia and hate, it is so absolutely refreshing to see a couple like this.
Running this blog means I get a LOT of messages from girls asking if i’ve watched a certain lesbian themed thing. For months I was getting asked “What do you think of Rose & Rosie” or “Did you watch Rose and Rosie’s new video?”. I’d seen gifs of them on tumblr but that was about it. I figured watching two attractive girls make videos about their relationship would just annoy me (and make me feel lonely), so I steered clear. The first time I watched a Rose & Rosie video I was lying on the floor of my room, in the dark, trying to come back from a bad PTSD/anxiety episode. One of the worst i’ve ever had. I needed to distract myself so I went to youtube and decided i’d try watching them. I must have laid there for two hours, just watching their videos. Within 5 minutes all that anxiety and fear was gone and I was calm. Now they’re my go to distraction when I don’t know what else to do.
Their videos aren’t just two attractive girls making videos about their relationship like I had originally thought. Mostly it’s just them talking, without any real direction. They’re funny, they bicker with one another in the most loving way and they teach their audience to smile and laugh.
Why are Rose & Rosie important to the LGBT community? Well, visibility mostly. I think back to when I was 13 and closeted and scared, having videos like theirs to watch would have done wonders for me. There are young girls all around the world who are unsure of who they are and absolutely terrified. Rose & Rosie show them how being gay isn’t just okay, it’s totally normal. They are fantastic role models. They don’t make videos about being gay, they just happen to like girls and they make videos about life. They show that life continues and you can be happy, even if you like girls. Both Rose & Rosie are incredibly intelligent and kind. Basically, they’re just really decent people who make this world a much better place.
Rose & Rosie are fantastic role models. They’re funny, they promote happiness and health. They show their followers their lives and they share their love with the world.
So, Rose & Rosie, thank you. Thank you for all that you do for young girls around the world. You are an inspiration and have changed more lives than you’ll ever know.
